There is nothing more relaxing than a leisurely weekend stroll around your favourite market soaking up the sights, sounds and sampling some of the culinary delights on offer. Eat Street Markets, Hamilton Wharf

This exciting addition to Brisbane’s Foodie scene commenced in November 2013 and has quickly become one of the most popular markets in Brisbane. It was created by three local Brisbane Identities Peter Hackworth, John Stainton and Jacki MacDonald and is inspired by the bustling Asian night markets. Every Friday and Saturday evening from 4pm – 10pm Hamilton Wharf comes alive with fairy lights and shipping containers serving as mini restaurants. Grab some great food and soak up the wonderful aromas and flavours all while enjoying the music of some great musicians. Have the evening off from the kitchen – you’ll be glad you did.

Power House Farmers Markets, New Farm

Every Saturday morning at the Powerhouse, New Farm, Jan Powers Farmers Market is bustling with activity. This popular Brisbane Farmers Market is a great way to get your weekend off to a leisurely start. The market runs from 6am to 12.00noon and is jam packed with a great range of fresh produce and delicious food. Pop down for some breakfast or brunch and then stock up on all your fresh fruit and veg, meats, seafood, breads, small goods etc. Conveniently located close to New Farm City Cat Stop and New Farm Park with its huge playground, the kids will be happy too.

Boundary Street Markets, West End

Every weekend from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon, the hip and eclectic inner city suburb of West End is home to the Boundary Street Markets. From 4pm on a Friday afternoon through till 10.00pm, you can enjoy live music in The Motor Room and the Container Bar. Stroll round the lane ways and pop up shops and enjoy some delicious street food. The Boundary Street Markets are housed in the Original Peters Ice Cream Factory, which showcases a range of Vintage Fashion, Homewares, Bakers and local Designers. The markets operate on Saturday from 10.00am to 10.00pm on Saturdays and 10.00am through to 3.00pm on Sundays. Well worth a visit and easily accessed by bus, train or city cat.

Eagle Farm Markets, Ascot

Held at the Eagle Farm Racecourse each Sunday, this fresh food market is sure to tantalise your taste buds. The markets are located at the Brisbane Racing Club and comprise of over 100 stalls selling everything from wonderful fresh produce to gourmet delights and a variety of fresh flowers and plants. Enjoy some great food and a coffee and browse the specialty gift and fashion stalls. The markets run from 7.00am – 12.30pm. There is plenty of parking on site and the entry is $2.00 per person. Children under 15 if accompanied by an adult are free.

Davies Park Markets, West End

This weekend, why not take a relaxing stroll around the Davies Park Markets by the Brisbane River in West End. Market stalls are dotted in a ring around Davies Park Oval and shaded by large fig trees. The vibe is decidedly boho and laidback. With a large selection of fresh fruit, veg, seafood, meat, artesian breads and herbs and spices, it’s a great opportunity to stock up for the week. If you are feeling hungry, then you are in the right place with a great selection of tasty treats and fresh coffee on offer.
