The Top 10 Things To Do In Brisbane

Get yourself to Southbank

Paris may have a Left Bank and a Right Bank but Brisbane has Southbank! This beautiful parkland is located directly across the river from the CBD. With its 17 hectares of lush landscaped gardens, walking and cycling paths, world class eateries, its very own beach and stunning river views, its easy to see why tourists and locals alike flock here to soak up the atmosphere.

Go Cruising

They don’t call it the River City for nothing. Winding leisurely through Brisbane City, the Brisbane River is a major part of life here, so much so that every September, we celebrate it with a fireworks spectacular “Sunsuper Riverfire”. There is no better way to enjoy the beautiful city skyline and beyond than from the water. The Brisbane City Cats operate seven days a week at regular 15 minute intervals and even more frequently in peak hour. For a more leisurely experience, why not take a cruise on the Kookaburra River Queen paddle wheelers, where great food, entertainment and cruising all come together. Lunch and dinner cruises are available.

Visit an Iconic Brisbane Pub

Nothing says quintessential Queensland more than a traditional Brisbane Pub and there are a few standout ones that should not be missed. The Breakfast Creek Hotel is arguably one of the most iconic pubs in Australia. Affectionately known to most as “The Brekky Creek” it’s famous for its premium quality steaks and “Beer off the Wood”. It also has a great beer garden. Other great pubs worth a visit include The Regatta Hotel at Toowong, The Story Bridge Hotel at Kangaroo Point and the Norman Hotel at Woolloongabba. Relax with a nice cold beer and take in the chilled out vibe.

Be a Culture Vulture

South Brisbane is home to the Cultural Precinct, an innovative arts centre located near the Victoria Bridge on the river. It consists of the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA), Queensland Art Gallery, Queensland Museum, State Library of Queensland, Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) and the Queensland Theatre Company. There are always exhibitions showcasing the best of Australian and International Art and QPAC features some of the world’s best performers.
